The hotel has uninterrupted ocean views from spacious rooms and a sizable onsen with indoor and outdoor pools, and very good food for dinner and breakfast was included. Staff were engagingly cheerful and, as is typically our experience in locations away from major tourist trails, work impressively hard to communicate in English. Though we didn't use it, there's a (free?) shuttle bus to and from Sendai. A short taxi ride to and from the station and tsunami-related sights in Shizugawa is affordable.

The hotel staff were all very helpful and welcoming. The dinner with abalone and oyster was among the best I have ever had. Lots of food at the breakfast buffet. I especially loved the croissant, olive ciabatta and cranberry pecan bread with Hokkaido butter. I also loved the organic coffee, sweet cherry tomatoes and onsen egg. It was my first time soaking in an onsen with beautiful sea view. A short walk from the hotel, the Jinja Coffee place was lovely.

The hotel is absolutely fantastic, which spectacular views over the bay. It feels like you are on a cruise ship. The dinner was delicious and we could try the Japanese delicacy Awabi for the first time. Breakfast was also an extensive buffet. Staying in a Japanese style room was a new experience for my parents, and they were worried about the comfort of futon, but we doubled-up the mattresses for them and it was comfortable enough.

A real retro hotel, which has been well maintained and operated. Everything is clean and beautiful, and the location can’t be beat. And there’s so much there, with a small store, arcade, and karaoke rooms all in the building. Facilities may be a bit older but I found it charming, and plenty luxurious. Especially considering the price. The shuttle takes care of transportation from Sendai station and back. Just check the times.

Tyler

Everything exceeded our expectations. Staff service was impeccable, onsen was awesome, dinner served was delicious with lots of thoughts in preparing the table with your name and serving the food with such beautiful plating. Room facing the Shizugawa Bay was awesome with seagulls visiting the balcony. You can practically see sunrise from the room. Room was clean and bedding was comfortable. Toiletries was great.
